Investing in Fort Lauderdale’s Opportunity Zones

Candy Yeung • May 28, 2019

Driftwood, a Miami based private firm specializing in hotel assets, is leaving its footprint on Fort Lauderdale with the launch of its Opportunity Zone project – a 218-room, dual-branded hotel called Home 2/Tru by Hilton. They recently launched their first Qualified Opportunity Fund, Driftwood QOF with a target raise of $50M.

If you’ve received gains from hedge funds and partnerships in 2018, per US Dept of Treasury Rules, you have until the end of June 2019 to reinvest your gains in Opportunity Zones. Individuals who reinvest money in Opportunity Zone funds by the end of 2019, will receive a 15% reduction on taxes.

Florida Commercial Property Investment Group released a new guide to help multi-family property owners find ways to increase property value. Packed with practical tips, the guide covers 7 major areas investors should consider when seeking ways to maximize their investment. "Developing a solid strategy for increasing your property value now," said Managing Director, Candy Yeung. "Not only will it help increase cash flow while you're still holding the property, but it also allows you to net a higher return when it's time to sell. When investors don't actively focus on ways to improve their property, they could be leaving tens of thousands of dollars on the table." To access the guide, click the banner below.
